Bus Driver

We are seeking a reliable and safety-conscious Bus Driver to transport students to and from school, as well as on field trips. The ideal candidate will have a valid driver's license, a clean driving record, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Responsibilities:- Safely transport students to and from school and on field trips
- Perform student counts and gather information concerning students and routes as required by the School and Transportation Department
- Obey all traffic laws and observe all safety regulations for school buses
- Maintain student discipline, as outlined in the Bus Driver Handbook
- Report disciplinary matters to the proper authority
- Keep assigned bus clean and maintain assigned schedule
- Check bus prior to operation for mechanical problems/concerns and notify the proper authority in case of mechanical failure or schedule delay/lateness
- Report all accidents, driving hazards, and other related incidents
- Adhere to the Bus Driver Agreement and follow the Bus Driver's Handbook
- Comply with all NC rules and regulations governing the safe operation of a school bus/passenger vehicle and all Gaston County Schools' rules and regulations governing the safe operation of a school bus
- Inspect the bus for occupants at the conclusion of each run and serve as a Bus Monitor post-accident
- Must be at least 18 years of age with at least six (6) months of driving experience with a valid operator's license
- Must possess a valid driver's license and be willing to obtain the required commercial Driver's License (CDL) with P and S endorsements
- Must have no STOP entry appearing on the driving record and successfully complete the classroom and road training course, if not licensed
- Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision once the job and route are learned and be willing to clean the bus after students/passengers daily
- Must have and maintain a good driving record and be safety-conscious
The Bus Driver will work in a fast-paced environment, transporting students to and from school and on field trips. The position requires the ability to work independently with minimal supervision and to maintain a safe and clean environment for students.
Benefits:The Bus Driver will receive a competitive salary of $17.02 per hour, with the experience altering the rate. The position also offers opportunities for professional growth and development.
