About the Role

We are seeking a highly qualified Commissioning Program Engineer to join our team at Cupertino Electric, a leading provider of electrical contracting services. As a Commissioning Program Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the successful commissioning of our utility-scale solar and energy storage projects across North America.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with our project teams, engineers of record, and third-party subcontractors to ensure the completion of commissioning documentation and its effective transmission.
  • Develop technical third-party subcontractor SOW documents and RFPs, review associated proposals from a technical perspective, and participate in subcontractor selection.
  • Ensure compliance with Automatic Dispatch System (ADS) and Automatic Generation Controls (AGC) requirements.
  • Lead and facilitate technical discussions with utility-scale developers and subcontractors, generate meeting minutes, and maintain action lists with respect to commissioning.
  • Lead problem-solving activities using formal processes to investigate and determine root cause.
  • Monitor construction and commissioning activities in conjunction with the onsite foreman and area superintendent to ensure that engineering and commissioning support has been planned in accordance with the project schedule.
  • Represent Cupertino Electric in discussions with clients regarding commissioning and plant performance.
  • Oversee various specialty subcontractors to ensure their adherence to contractual obligations.
  • Review and comment on technical test procedures, construction and commissioning schedules, drawing packages, and ensure compliance to these documents by various parties through the Commissioning Program Manager and site management team.
  • Experience interacting with SCADA engineers, utilities, ISOs, IPPs in the US market.
  • Field experience deploying solar/storage PPC & SCADA systems.
  • General understanding of power plant modeling software and model creation in PSSE, PSCAD, or similar tools.
  • Understanding of network communication architectures, protocols, NERC standards.
  • Support the team with proactive communications.
  • Ability to multitask and change priorities quickly.
  • Able to convert complex technical requirements into an actionable plan.
  • Passionate about solving customers' problems and focused on product value to the customer.
About You

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Commissioning Program Engineer who possesses a strong analytical mindset, excellent problem-solving skills, and effective written and oral communication skills. You should have a background and/or experience in photovoltaic and battery storage systems, as well as a working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and P6 scheduling.

Requirements:

  • BS in Electrical Engineering preferred.
  • Typically requires no previous professional experience.
