The Senior HVAC Controls Engineer will play a crucial role in interpreting project scopes and designing hardware/software systems. Responsibilities include database creation, graphical user interface development, and the implementation of procedures and standards essential for the design and programming of control projects. This position also involves supporting the installation team during system commissioning and device verification in the field.
Key Responsibilities:
- Configure and program HVAC building automation and control systems (direct digital controls) while developing operational sequences.
- Create and test software applications to ensure system functionality.
- Incorporate field change information into as-built documentation and software.
- Execute and finalize assigned projects, including system programming, integration, commissioning, and project closure.
- Design hardware and software according to established standards.
- Oversee the loading, verification, and commissioning of all system controllers, ensuring complete system functionality and addressing issues with subcontractors and other stakeholders.
- Conduct site-specific training for owners/operators on the comprehensive system, ensuring they are well-informed and equipped with the necessary documentation and manuals.
- Perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering discipline, ideally in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, HVAC Engineering, or a related technical field.
- A minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience in systems design, commissioning, and programming of digital HVAC control systems.
- Proficiency with Alerton, Tridium, or Siemens systems is essential.
- In-depth understanding of HVAC control concepts in new construction and renovation projects, with the capability to program and commission both pre and post-installation.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Highly organized with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks effectively to meet leadership's timelines.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and take ownership of responsibilities.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work in diverse conditions, including standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, climbing ladders, and operating high-lift equipment.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Must be capable of using hand tools, laptops, smartphones, and tablets.
- Ability to lift and move equipment and tools weighing up to 40 pounds unassisted.
