Position Overview:

The primary responsibility of this role is to conduct initial visual quality inspections on metal stampings while efficiently packing them into designated containers to ensure a high-quality product for both internal and external customers. Additional quality checks may be performed as necessary, with relevant information recorded in our ERP system, PLEX, while also performing general utility tasks to meet production schedules.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute all tasks to ensure departmental and plant production goals are achieved on a daily and weekly basis.
  • Reference production orders in PLEX to process products according to the Job Element Sheet (JES).
  • Regularly load, unload, lift/move, pull/push, and position products and materials weighing up to 60 pounds, occasionally more (assistance provided for heavier items), throughout the assigned work area. Press packing operations require frequent standing, walking, bending, twisting, turning, and lifting.
  • Select appropriate racks or bins for packing and/or storing parts for subsequent processes.
  • Accurately pack parts in the correct containers per packaging instructions to fulfill customer specifications, ensuring compliance with labeling requirements. Utilize personal computers (PC), PLEX system, keyboard, and mouse.
  • Complete online work center and operator inspection sheets to confirm process stability and adherence to all visual inspection and gauge requirements.
  • Visually inspect parts from prior operations according to Challenge Manufacturing quality standards to verify proper form, fit, and function. Ensure compliance with customer and Challenge Manufacturing quality standards as outlined in gauge instructions, first piece inspection approvals, problem containment processes, quality alerts, and other quality standards specified in the Challenge Manufacturing Quality Policy and/or PLEX System for each work center.
  • Maintain safety and cleanliness in the work area by performing housekeeping duties.
  • Participate in cross-training on various work centers as needed.
  • Complete necessary paperwork and documentation (hourly count boards).
  • Meet daily production targets.

Shift Details:

This position operates on a C Shift: 5:00 AM - 5:00 PM Friday/Saturday and 5:00 PM - 5:00 AM Sunday/Monday.

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Able to stand for 8-10 hours daily and physically capable of performing essential job functions, with or without reasonable accommodation.
