The Payroll and Benefits Specialist plays a vital role in ensuring the seamless execution of payroll and benefits operations. This position requires a high level of accuracy and attention to detail, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and company policies.

This role involves processing payroll for all employees, including new hires, terminations, transfers, exemptions, pay adjustments, and authorized deductions. The specialist must also review and audit employee time submissions to ensure accuracy and completeness, reconciling payroll discrepancies as needed.

The Payroll and Benefits Specialist is responsible for maintaining and updating payroll systems, including coding for deductions, garnishments, taxes, and other relevant payroll components. This ensures alignment with accounting needs and facilitates accurate payroll execution.

Responsibilities include responding to internal and external requests for payroll information, such as employment verifications, worker's compensation, and unemployment inquiries. The specialist must also investigate and resolve employee payroll concerns in a timely and professional manner.

Additionally, the Payroll and Benefits Specialist administers health, dental, vision, short- and long-term disability (STD/LTD), Employee Assistance Program (EAP), and voluntary benefit plans. This includes coordinating annual open enrollment processes, new hire enrollments, and qualified life event/benefit changes.

The specialist must also reconcile benefit provider invoices, ensuring accuracy and timely payment, and assist in resolving insurance claim issues. They are responsible for administering the company's 401(k) plan, including employee contributions, company match, compliance testing, and reporting.

Requirements include a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field. The ideal candidate will have a proven customer service orientation, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, is also required.

Preferred requirements include experience administering multi-state payroll and benefits, as well as experience with ADP Workforce Now.
