Position Overview

The role is integral to our refugee foster care initiative, with daily tasks that include:

  • Completing necessary paperwork

Work Schedule

Shift: Day Shift - Monday through Friday with varied schedules provided weekly.

Compensation: $16.75 per hour plus mileage reimbursement.

Key Duties

The Social Services Assistant will:

  • Provide culturally relevant, bilingual auxiliary services to support case-related goals for children and families.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge and assist clients under the guidance of social workers and supervisors, adhering to all regulatory standards.
  • Transport foster children to medical appointments and other necessary locations.
  • Supervise children during appointments in various settings.
  • Compile and maintain a resource file, familiarizing with local medical and educational facilities.
  • Document observations related to children and foster parents, reporting to the assigned social worker.
  • Utilize computerized software to maintain complete progress notes for assigned cases.
  • Assist in obtaining necessary reports and resource information as directed.
  • Support the social worker in case assessments and home evaluations.
  • Address post-foster care inquiries following agency policies.
Qualifications

Education: An associate's degree in human services or a related field is required, or a high school diploma with 60 college credits. A bachelor's degree in social work or a related field is preferred.

Experience: A minimum of one year in child welfare or refugee resettlement programs is preferred.

Additional Requirements: A valid driver's license with a good driving record and reliable transportation is essential. Extended hours may be necessary.
