The Parts and Inventory Manager plays a critical role in driving business success by optimizing parts inventory, managing staff, and ensuring customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement effective inventory management strategies to minimize obsolescence and maximize turnover.
  • Supervise and train parts department staff to ensure excellent customer service and sales performance.
  • Prepare and administer an annual operating budget for the parts department.
  • Establish pricing parameters to balance customer loyalty with profit goals.
  • Monitor and adjust inventory levels to meet the needs of the service department, body shop, wholesale accounts, and the do-it-yourself public.
  • Ensure all parts are properly tagged to recover full credit from the factory.
  • Supervise stock order procedures and set policies for special ordering parts.
  • Analyze sales, expenses, and inventory monthly to maintain profit goals.
  • Develop a lost sales tracking report and direct outside parts and counter sales efforts.
  • Develop sales promotions and take advantage of manufacturers' inventory co-op advertising.
  • Develop, enforce, and monitor guidelines for working with customers to ensure maximum customer satisfaction.
  • Handle customer complaints immediately and according to the dealership's guidelines.
  • Ensure all dealership purchases are properly accounted for before payment is made.
  • Assist in the collection of past-due accounts.
  • Supervise custodians to ensure the work area is kept clean.
  • Enforce safety requirements, including forklift training and operation, processing of MSDS sheets, and OSHA Right-to-Know.
  • Understand and comply with federal, state, and local regulations affecting parts sales.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and follow all company safety policies and procedures.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information.
  • One year of supervisory experience.
  • Experience in an automotive parts department.
  • Excellent communication and managerial skills.
  • Some sales experience.
