As a Sales Counter Specialist, you will be the initial point of contact for our customers, embodying the face of Airgas. Your role will involve selling a variety of products including medical, industrial, and specialty gases, as well as welding equipment and tools.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage with walk-in and telephone customers to identify their product needs and assist them in locating the appropriate merchandise.
- Ensure timely completion and filing of all necessary documentation, including sales records and quotes.
- Utilize computer systems to enter sales and quote data, while also researching product information for customers.
- Process payments for merchandise or services and maintain accurate records of transactions, adhering to all administrative and accounting protocols.
- Support warehouse operations including shipping and receiving, inventory management, and general upkeep.
- Restock merchandise as required, organizing products on shelves and ensuring proper labeling.
- Adhere to all safety protocols, particularly regarding cylinder handling and storage.
- Maintain showroom cleanliness in accordance with management guidelines.
- Stay updated on pricing and product literature, ensuring current knowledge of offerings.
- Perform additional duties and projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required; an Associate's or Bachelor's degree is preferred.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in product sales, warehouse operations, or related fields is necessary.
- Experience in the gas, welding, and safety supply industry is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with SAP systems is strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of welding techniques such as MIG, TIG, and STICK welding is advantageous.
- Prior experience operating a forklift is preferred.
- Intermediate proficiency in Google Suite applications is required.
- Exceptional customer service skills are essential.
- Ability to work independently and manage pressure to meet deadlines is important.
- Effective communication skills for explaining information clearly to customers and colleagues.
- Commitment to safety programs and compliance with OSHA regulations is expected.
- CDL A is preferred but not mandatory.
