Primary Function of Organizational Unit
The Center for Health Disparities is dedicated to addressing health inequities affecting vulnerable populations and underserved communities. Our mission encompasses research, education, training, and community engagement to combat disparities in obesity, diabetes, cancers, and cardiovascular diseases, particularly among rural, ethnic-minority, and low-income groups.

Job Duties
The postdoctoral scholar will engage in both independent and collaborative research efforts focused on project management, needs assessment, and the formulation of action plans linked to the NIH STRONG research infrastructure U award: RACING AHEAD. Key responsibilities include:
  • Managing project-related tasks and communications.
  • Conducting literature reviews and data analysis.
  • Preparing reports and developing presentations.

Additionally, the scholar will work closely with a team of researchers and stakeholders to:
  • Identify gaps in health disparities research capacity through institutional assessments.
  • Develop actionable improvement plans.
  • Coordinate focus groups, surveys, and retreats.

Supervision of graduate research students, oversight of data collection processes, and ensuring adherence to established research guidelines and regulatory standards will also be essential components of this role.

Minimum Education/Experience
Doctoral degree from an accredited institution
Proficiency in English
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
