Job Summary

Bridgetown Natural Foods is seeking a highly skilled Production Supervisor to lead our production team and drive manufacturing excellence. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for building and leading effective production teams, executing the overall manufacturing strategy, and ensuring the highest levels of safety, quality, and productivity.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead day-to-day production activities across all departments, ensuring efficient coordination with Sanitation, Quality, and Warehouse teams.
  • Develop and implement training programs to ensure all department associates are properly trained on Standard Operating Procedures for all equipment and processes.
  • Monitor and report on production schedules, identifying and addressing attainment shortfalls.
  • Manage staffing levels to ensure adequate production time, staffing, supplies, equipment, and raw materials to achieve attainment goals.
  • Verify the calibration of scales and base settings, ensuring all Operator equipment is set to standard, and process and recipe-specific parameters are followed.
  • Hold Leads accountable for the performance of their shift team members and ensure they are trained to perform essential functions.
  • Complete administrative duties, including time and attendance, employment status changes, time off approvals, and disciplinary action.
  • Audit and correct deviations from standards and base settings, ensuring daily housekeeping duties are completed thoroughly and correctly.
  • Communicate day-to-day Department or Company activities using shift reports, huddles, and work orders, and share pertinent information with Leads and others.
  • Create a team-oriented atmosphere, inspiring team members to continually strive toward improvement.
  • Communicate performance to targets, accomplishments, and safety performance.
  • Lead and manage the change process, communicating pass-down information in a timely and positive manner.
  • Encourage the promotion of internal talent, offer development opportunities, and support learning through coaching and feedback.
  • Ensure new team members are progressing toward full competency, and coach and monitor trainers to ensure training standards are adhered to.
  • Perform or initiate job skills validations for cross-trained, transferred, or new team members.
  • Solicit input on team member performance, deliver performance evaluations, and address and document performance problems.
  • Escalate serious or unresolved performance issues to Human Resources.
  • Ensure all food safety policies and procedures are enforced, and positions-specific data collection is performed accurately and on time.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 2-4 years of previous Supervisory experience.
  • Understanding of basic mathematical calculations, reading, and record keeping.
  • Food processing or similar work experience strongly preferred.
  • Ability to analyze machine operations and recommend or implement solutions.
  • Ability to operate equipment safely and lock-out/tag-out equipment for cleaning and maintenance.
  • Strong communication skills, including delegation, performance problem-solving, and conflict resolution.
  • Ability to relate to, train, and communicate in a variety of styles, comfortable with a culturally diverse work culture.
  • Ability to understand and communicate in English.
  • Ability to train employees and coach to drive performance, ability to deliver feedback on a regular basis.
  • Ability to plan and organize and manage time effectively.
  • Ability to learn and apply company standards, including lock-out/tag-out, safety practices, SOPs, GMPs, employee handbook, etc.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word).
Working Conditions/Physical Factors
  • Positions require standing, repetitive movement, bending, and twisting, and using hands to handle objects; exposure to sustained noise levels; exposure to a variety of food allergens; working in very hot temperatures; exposure to hazards such as machinery, slippery floors, ladders, and powered industrial vehicles. May be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Ability to stand for 85-90% of shift, sometimes up to 12 hours.
  • Must be able to work in an environment containing allergens, such as gluten, eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, and milk.
  • Must be able to ascend and descend stairways, ladders, and ramps.
  • Must be available for all shifts, including nights, weekends, and some holidays.
