Key Responsibilities
  1. Enhance Engineering Processes:
    • Design and oversee the engineering, quality, and product processes to boost efficiency and speed of delivery.
    • Adopt best practices and tools that streamline development, mitigate bottlenecks, and foster team collaboration.
    • Create a monitoring system for velocity and quality that respects team members' time.
    • Bring a wealth of experience to shape these processes confidently and decisively.
  2. Foster a Dynamic Work Culture:
    • Develop and sustain a vibrant, high-performing engineering culture that attracts and retains exceptional talent.
    • Strategically recruit and onboard engineers to support our Series B growth and future initiatives.
    • Lead programs that encourage professional development, mentorship, and career advancement for engineering staff.
  3. Optimize Quality Assurance:
    • Implement comprehensive quality assurance protocols to minimize production bugs and defects.
    • Incorporate automated testing and CI/CD practices to enhance reliability and speed.
    • Ensure that quality assurance processes are scalable and adaptable to accommodate our expanding product suite and customer base.
    • Utilize prior experience to build, manage, and scale an effective QA process.
Daily Activities
  1. Ensure timely project progress and team efficiency.
  2. Assist developers with technical and process-related challenges as necessary.
  3. Collaborate with the CTO and head of product on strategic decisions.
  4. Manage reporting on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis.
  5. Establish an effective cadence for one-on-one meetings with engineering team members that provides constructive feedback without wasting time.
Qualifications

Essential:

  • Proven experience leading venture-backed Series A+ engineering teams.
  • Strong expertise in JavaScript, React, and Golang.
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes and container technologies.
  • Experience in Agile development methodologies.
  • Hands-on approach with a willingness to engage in coding when necessary.

Preferred:

  • Experience with TypeScript.
  • Knowledge of Pub/Sub systems.
  • Understanding of ETL pipelines.
  • Familiarity with SDLC concepts and compliance with standards such as SOC 2 Type II, GDPR, and CCPA.
  • Background in FinTech or ConTech.
  • Previous experience in the commercial construction sector, either on-site or in software development.
