Job Summary:
Sinclair Broadcast Group, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Engineering to oversee the engineering functions of our station. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for planning and implementing future equipment installations, managing training and hiring processes for engineering staff, and ensuring software license compliance and up-to-date software versions.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee all engineering functions, including planning and budgeting for future equipment installations and upgrades.
- Manage training and hiring processes for engineering staff, ensuring that they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties.
- Supervise maintenance of computer software, hardware, and local area network applications, ensuring that they are up-to-date and functioning properly.
- Ensure software license compliance and that all software versions are up-to-date.
- Supervise preventive maintenance and/or troubleshooting of broadcast electronic equipment, including cameras, audio and video equipment, microwave transmitters and receivers, satellite receivers, and computing equipment.
- Supervise and/or perform transmitter maintenance, ensuring that our broadcast signals are transmitted accurately and reliably.
- Work with Corporate leadership to ensure security and FCC compliance, ensuring that our station is in compliance with all relevant regulations.
Requirements:
- A minimum of 5 years' experience in broadcast electrical system and equipment maintenance.
- A minimum of 1 year in a management role, with experience in supervising and managing engineering staff.
- Experience training and managing technicians with a positive and constructive attitude.
- Proficiency in evaluating, troubleshooting, installing, and maintaining broadcast equipment and IT systems.
- Dedication to quality and time management while upholding to all FCC regulations.
- A valid driver's license and ability to work on ladders, stand for long periods of time, and lift computers or equipment up to 50 lbs.
- A technical degree in electronics or a related field, or an equivalent of work and educational experience.
- SBE certification and A+ certification is preferred.
