Job Title: Assistant General Manager

Organization Overview:

The Burlington Sock Puppets are a professional baseball team based in the Appalachian League, a summer-collegiate wood bat league. As a key component of the Burlington (NC) and Alamance County market, the Sock Puppets aim to provide unique experiences for fans and enhance the quality of life for community members.

Job Summary:

We are seeking an Assistant General Manager to play a vital role in building the Sock Puppets brand locally and across the sports world. As a member of Knuckleball Entertainment, the Sock Puppets organization strives to promote baseball through engaging with fans and industry-wide innovation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in creating and implementing strategic business plans, including new marketable assets and profit-maximizing stadium activations.
  • Plan and execute the activation of the newly renovated $3.1M Entertainment Venue, positioning the space and stadium as a premier event space.
  • Generate revenue and achieve personal sales goals through securing partnership deals and focusing on ticketing & hospitality sales efforts.
  • Manage and develop strong relationships with key stakeholders and corporate partners.
  • Act as the main point person for game-day operations, managing the food & beverage operation, hiring and training staff, and elevating the fan experience.
  • Support organizational operations by assisting in sales philosophy and asset management, food & beverage and merchandise product offerings and pricing, and policy and process installment.
  • Assist in managing the operating budget and organizing the organization's finances.
Requirements:
  • Full-time position with the ability to work 40 hours/week, all home games, weekend events as assigned, and any potential holidays that may coincide with club games/off-season events.
  • 3-5 years of prior sports / business experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in business/sales/sports management is preferred.
  • Ability to effectively communicate via multiple channels and in a fast-paced environment.
  • Highly self-motivated, organized leader that understands how to manage people and cultivate an energetic, effective work environment.
  • Passionate individual that values building relationships and working in a team setting.
