Custodian - Bradley Academy Museum

This is a part-time position with the City of Murfreesboro TN, responsible for maintaining the overall cleanliness of the facility and surrounding grounds. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operations of the business.

• Communicate effectively with others in spoken and written English to ensure safe and efficient operations.
• Open and close the building, prepare it for day activities, and ensure it is secure at closing.
• Maintain and clean restrooms, drinking fountains, and kitchen in a sanitary manner.
• Remove litter and waste paper from inside the building and on the surrounding grounds, care for and water plants.
• Replace soap and paper products in dispensers, sweep, mop, and wax floors and stairwells on a routine basis, vacuum and clean carpets.
• Clean windows, change light bulbs and air filters as needed.
• Set up and take down for meetings, carry equipment, tables, chairs, and other objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance.
• Dust, polish furniture, clean window ledges, banisters, ceilings, radiators, and bleachers.
• Perform minor repairs to the facility and equipment as required and ensure the facility is safe for patrons and employees.
• Use City-owned vehicles to run errands and deliveries.
• Use a ladder and hand tools, including hammers, screwdrivers, wrenches, heavy equipment, power tools, pliers, paint brushes, etc.
• Monitor building and report any maintenance needs to the supervisor.
• Some positions may require driving.
• Perform other work as assigned.

• High School diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
• Three (3) months of janitorial or custodial experience preferred.
• Some positions may require a driver's license.

This position is considered a Safety-Sensitive position. Applicants who pass the interview process will be subject to drug and alcohol testing.
