Role Summary:

You will play a pivotal role in shaping Arbor's technological backbone. As the first Engineering Manager, you'll ensure a seamless energy decision-making experience for consumers. You'll also foster innovation, consumer focus, and an inclusive culture that thrives on diverse perspectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement system architecture strategies.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, inclusivity, and consumer-centricity.
  • Guide team members in hiring and mentoring, upholding Arbor's tech vision.
  • Steer system integrations, performance optimization, security, scalability, and resilience.
  • Advance backend development using contemporary technologies and paradigms.
  • Safeguard data integrity, collaborating with data architectures like PostgreSQL, BigQuery, and Snowflake.
  • Promote rigorous testing, adhere to CI/CD best practices, and champion backend automation.
  • Bridge gaps between product, design, marketing, and business to define objectives and roll out user experiences.

Qualifications:

  • Possess a passion for simplifying energy decisions and endorsing cleaner energy alternatives.
  • Hold 10+ years of professional experience as a software engineer.
  • Have 2+ years of management experience, preferably with hiring experience.
  • Demonstrate fullstack development fluency and ability to contribute to frontend code occasionally.
  • Exhibit hands-on experience with popular backend frameworks and tools.
  • Show familiarity with A/B testing methodologies, CI/CD processes, and automation mindset.
  • Demonstrate competency in GCP, AWS ecosystems, or similar platforms.
  • Display effective verbal and written communication skills, strong analytical skills, and interest in industry trends.
  • Hold a degree in Computer Science or related fields, or equivalent professional experience.

Location & Work Environment:

This position is fully remote, but candidates should be located within a reasonable distance of one of our hub locations in Boston or Austin. We value relationships among team members and periodically gather at these hubs for special occasions.

Estimated Salary: $140,000 - $170,000 per year
