Position Overview

JWCH Institute, Inc. is a dedicated non-profit organization committed to delivering comprehensive health services to underserved communities in Los Angeles County. The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) plays a vital role within our healthcare team, ensuring the provision of exceptional nursing care to patients under the guidance of a registered nurse (RN) or physician.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Execute routine patient care tasks in alignment with established protocols and within the scope of training and responsibilities.
  2. Conduct basic assessments and document findings in accordance with organizational policies and nursing standards.
  3. Contribute to the evaluation of patient-specific interventions related to care and treatment plans.
  4. Deliver consistent patient care in compliance with organizational policies and California LVN licensure regulations.
  5. Implement aseptic techniques and infection control measures as per established guidelines.
  6. Utilize proper body mechanics and personal protective equipment to ensure safety.
  7. Identify the need for emergency interventions, initiate appropriate actions, and notify the Nurse Manager and physician promptly.
  8. Provide patient education and support self-management goals in accordance with organizational policies.
  9. Delegate appropriate tasks to medical assistants, ensuring adherence to their job descriptions and organizational guidelines.
  10. Assist medical staff with procedures and diagnostic examinations.
  11. Maintain cleanliness and organization of patient examination rooms and workspaces.
  12. Document relevant patient information, procedures performed, and patient responses in compliance with established policies.
  13. Ensure timely documentation of all patient care activities in the medical record.
  14. Assist in the maintenance and proper handling of medical equipment.
  15. Uphold cleanliness, organization, and adequate supply levels in assigned areas.
  16. Demonstrate safe equipment usage and cleaning practices based on manufacturer instructions and policy guidelines.
  17. Maintain accountability for adherence to organizational and departmental standards.
  18. Follow departmental procedures regarding attendance and report absences accordingly.
  19. Identify and report potentially unsafe conditions or processes to supervisors.
  20. Engage in assigned organizational programs and committees.
  21. Foster effective working relationships and collaborate with team members to achieve organizational objectives.
  22. Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  1. Valid California LVN License.
  2. Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
  3. Minimum of one year of experience in an ambulatory care environment.
  4. Experience working with diverse populations and staff.
  5. Proficient in clinical procedures and nursing practices.
  6. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  7. Excellent organizational and multitasking capabilities.
  8. Compassionate, patient-centered approach to care.
  9. Valid California Driver's License with current insurance.
  10. Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
Physical Requirements:

This position involves prolonged sitting, bending, lifting, and stretching. Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity are necessary for operating office equipment. Employees must be able to perform essential job functions without posing significant risks to themselves or others.
