Position Overview

We are looking for a proactive and skilled Senior Accountant to become a vital part of our finance department. The ideal candidate will possess a strong affinity for numbers and a thorough understanding of financial reporting processes. This is a permanent, full-time position that offers a competitive salary and a robust benefits package. The Senior Accountant will be instrumental in maintaining the financial integrity of our organization, ensuring compliance with regulations, and accurately tracking costs and profitability.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Generate precise and timely financial reports and statements while ensuring adherence to accounting control procedures.
2. Oversee daily operations of the accounting department, including month-end and year-end processes, accounts payable/receivable, cash receipts, general ledger, payroll, utilities, treasury, budgeting, cash forecasting, and variance analysis of revenue and expenditures.
3. Analyze accounting data and produce relevant financial reports or statements.
4. Establish and enforce appropriate accounting methods, policies, and principles.
5. Coordinate and finalize annual audits.
6. Offer recommendations to enhance systems and financial performance.
7. Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to strengthen internal controls.
8. Collaborate with the Financial Manager and Accounting Manager to optimize financial procedures.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
2. CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or CMA (Certified Management Accountant) certification is preferred.
3. A minimum of 5 years of proven experience in roles such as financial controller, accounting supervisor, or senior accountant.
4. In-depth knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
5. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced expertise in Microsoft Excel (including creating spreadsheets and utilizing advanced formulas).
6. Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end closing process.
7. Familiarity with financial accounting statements.
8. Strong analytical skills with meticulous attention to detail.
9. Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
10. Capacity to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines with precision.
11. Tech-savvy with experience in accounting software such as FreshBooks and Zoho.
12. High level of integrity and ability to handle confidential information.
13. Strong understanding of business and income tax worksheets and computations.
