Position Overview

AMIkids Sandoval, Inc. operates a multi-service group home that provides essential transitional living and support services for young males aged 13-18 who have been referred by various protective services due to concerns such as abuse, neglect, or delinquency.

Role Summary

The Youth Care Specialist Supervisor is tasked with leading and overseeing the Youth Care Specialists. This includes managing performance, developing team members, creating schedules, and participating in the recruitment process. The Supervisor is accountable for the secure and safe operation of the program, ensuring compliance with all relevant contractual and regulatory requirements. Through effective leadership, the Supervisor will inspire and guide both team members and youth towards achieving the program's goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee team members and youth in alignment with operational policies to ensure safety and security; report any incidents that deviate from established protocols.
  • Assist in the creation of work schedules, ensuring adequate coverage is maintained.
  • Provide constructive and timely performance feedback to team members; conduct evaluations and suggest incentives for professional growth.
  • Guide youth in the proper care and maintenance of the facility and its equipment, ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
  • Supervise a variety of academic, vocational, and motivational activities both on and off-site.
  • Act as a mentor and positive role model for both youth and team members.
  • Communicate essential information to relevant team members and supervisors.
  • Implement Behavior Skills Training effectively, providing necessary redirection and coaching to youth.
  • May be required to administer medication and provide first aid and CPR during emergencies, following national standards.
  • Assist in promoting positive youth behavior and discipline, participating in reinforcement and care review meetings.
  • Engage in special activities and trips that may require extended hours or on-call status.
  • Maintain certification in crisis intervention and physical restraint as mandated by state and contract requirements.
  • Prevent and manage youth altercations using authorized training methods; escalate serious disciplinary issues as necessary.
  • Attend all required training and maintain relevant certifications and licenses.
  • Operate company vehicles as needed, ensuring compliance with transportation policies.
  • Support special projects and perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • A minimum of six months of supervisory experience is required.
  • At least one year of experience working with youth, preferably in the Juvenile Justice System.
