Oncology Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner

Positions Location:Lansing, MI
Job DescriptionResponsible for the provision of clinical care and patient education for adult gynecological and/or medical oncology/hematology patients under the clinical guidance and supervision of the physician.
The Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner works independently in performing daily responsibilities as appropriate under their license and within their scope of practice.
Essential Duties:- Delivers professional services to the Oncology service's patients within the limits of knowledge, experience, and within the scope of practice under the licensure of the profession.
- Assures accurate and timely history and physical assessments, including completion of patient chart, internal admission notes, consults, daily progress notes and discharge summaries on the service's patients in the Hospital, the Outpatient Clinic, and/or the Satellite Clinics as assigned.
- Ensures that accurate and thorough patient and family instructions are provided throughout the care of the patient.
- Provides professional services to the GYN patient population through the GYN Oncology PA/NP Clinic and as needed.
- Performs core specialized diagnostic, therapeutic and other procedures as assigned.
Serves as patient escort for GYN Oncologist patients.
Outpatient Medical Oncology/Hematology:Provides professional services to the service's patient population through the Oncology/Hematology PA/NP Clinic and as needed.
Inpatient Oncology Services:Supports the service through daily rounds, participation in patient care conferences, and other activities related to the treatment of the service's inpatient population.
Oncology outreach:Provides professional services at outreach locations as needed.
Requirements:- Current BCLS
- Current State of Michigan Certification as a Physician's Assistant or Nurse Practitioner.
- Successful completion of hospital credentialing.
- Experience in gynecology and/or oncology preferred.
- Two years experience in the outpatient setting preferred.
- Graduate of an approved Physician's Assistant Program
- Graduate of an accredited PA or NP program
- Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively and appropriately communicate with patients, families, physicians and other caregivers
- Able to demonstrate the knowledge and skill necessary to provide care based on physical, psycho/social, educational, safety and related criteria, appropriate to the age of the patients served in assigned area.
