The district is looking to recruit an Early Childhood Educator II for the school-day/school-year preschool classroom. This program is supported by the State Department of Education School Readiness Grant. The Early Childhood Educator II will assist in designing and executing educational activities that foster the social, physical, and cognitive development of preschool-aged children in collaboration with other educational staff, including a Preschool Teacher I. The Early Childhood Educator II will operate under the guidance of the Early Childhood Coordinator with backing from the Building Principal.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with lead educators in the planning and preparation of resources for children's educational activities.
  • Facilitate learning sessions with children.
  • Provide insights that aid educators in evaluating, documenting, and reporting children's development and utilizing assessment outcomes to tailor activities.
  • Oversee children's activities to ensure their safety.
  • Assist in maintaining a secure, clean, and organized learning atmosphere.
  • Provide classroom support in the absence of the lead educator.
Qualifications
  • Applicants must possess at least a Childhood Development Associate (CDA) credential or equivalent (a minimum of 12 college credits in early childhood education, child development, elementary education, or early childhood special education). An Associate's Degree in Early Childhood along with two years of experience working with preschool children is preferred.
  • Demonstrated successful teaching experience at the early childhood and/or kindergarten levels.
  • Familiarity with the Connecticut Early Learning and Development Standards.
Additional Requirements
  • Current First Aid, CPR, and medication certification or willingness to obtain.
  • Work primarily occurs in a classroom setting. Preschool classrooms are dynamic environments with a high level of activity. The incumbent must be capable of lifting 40 pounds. Other physical demands as outlined in the job description.
