Job Title: Automation Engineer

As an Automation Engineer at Actalent, you will play a crucial role in troubleshooting, programming, and improving automation systems. Your work will directly impact the efficiency, quality, and delivery of the production processes.

Responsibilities
  • Use Vis Plant monitoring software to review cycle times of automation and follow up on automation projects and installations.
  • Troubleshoot PLC, robot, and other automation problems.
  • Update program backups for automation.
  • Program new installations of body tooling and conveyor systems.
  • Reprogram automation for engineering changes and improvements.
  • Coordinate automation campaigns.
Essential Skills
  • Fundamental working knowledge of PLC logic and controls (RSLogix).
  • Experience with Allen Bradley Panel View use/programming, AB Servo, and AB VFD drives.
  • Familiarity with VFDs, Armor starts, encoders, and network/Ethernet controls.
  • 2+ years of related experience.
  • Strong problem-solving skills including 8Ds and DMAICs.
  • Ability to independently troubleshoot all body equipment and continuously evaluate equipment for improvement.
  • Fanuc robot experience.
  • Experience with Kawasaki programming, RS Logics, Microsoft Office, and PLC.
  • Ability to read prints, AutoCAD, and interpret and modify electrical schematics.
  • Experience in laser burning.
  • Strong understanding of conveyor system programming and body tooling techniques, including networking understanding (DH+, Ethernet, remote IO).
  • Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma experience.
  • Proficiency in Lean Tools – 5S, Kanban, Poka-yoke, and Value Stream Mapping.
  • Experience with DMAIC and DMADV (DFSS) Project Methodology.
  • Experience with TQM, PPAP, and DOEs.
  • Visual Factory Management experience.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience with simulation modeling.
  • Ability to read blueprints.

A very large site spanning nearly 70 acres with a significant number of Fanuc and Kawasaki robots. The work environment is fast-paced with a high sense of urgency. The role is fully on-site, and you must be available to work overtime, nights, and weekends as required. Safety training and personal protective equipment are mandatory.
