Job Title: PRN Monitor Technician (Clinical Technician I)

University of Iowa Health Care is seeking a skilled Clinical Technician to join our Telemetry Unit at the Downtown Campus. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care under the direct supervision of Registered Nurses.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist with patient admission, transfer, and discharge
  • Complete baseline admission data on patient arrival
  • Observe patients for changes in physical condition
  • Demonstrate competency in technical skills, providing appropriate care with regard to patient's condition and age
  • Maintain a safe environment for patients and follow standard precautions
  • Comply with unit, departmental, and hospital policies/standards
  • Participate in unit-based Quality Management programs
  • Implement emergency care procedures in actual and practice situations
  • Document information obtained during tests/procedures
  • Work as a team member and support cohesiveness of unit personnel
  • Perform special duties as identified in unit or divisional policy under direction of the charge nurse
  • Preserve patient privacy and confidentiality
  • Contribute to the learning experience of students/new staff
  • Support and contribute to the education of patients and families
  • Follow appropriate organizational channels
  • Participate in unit and division staff meetings and in-services
  • Demonstrate responsibility in the care and utilization of complex equipment
  • Perform other projects and tasks as assigned
  • Incorporate the principles of Service Leadership to ensure positive patient/customer relations
Qualifications:
  • One year of healthcare experience involving direct patient care
