Fiber Operations Manager Job Description

Job Summary:

ArrowCore Group is seeking a highly skilled Fiber Operations Manager to oversee the installation, maintenance, and management of T1/T2 level fiber optic connections at our cutting-edge data center. As a Fiber Operations Manager, you will lead a team responsible for ensuring the optimal performance and integrity of our data center's fiber infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Fiber Operations Leadership: Lead and manage a team responsible for the installation, routing, and maintenance of T1/T2 level fiber optic connections, ensuring precision and adherence to industry standards.
  • Installation and Maintenance: Oversee the installation and upkeep of fiber optics at the T1/T2 levels, ensuring secure, correctly routed, and functional connections. Promptly address any issues to maintain network reliability and efficiency.
  • Troubleshooting: Proactively identify and resolve issues within the T1/T2 level fiber network using industry-standard tools and techniques. Minimize downtime and ensure continuous operations through effective problem-solving.
  • Quality Control: Implement and maintain strict quality control measures to ensure all fiber installations and maintenance activities meet the highest standards of performance and reliability.
  • Team Leadership: Provide guidance, training, and support to the fiber operations team. Foster a culture of safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

Requirements:

  • 2-3 years of direct experience with T1/T2 level fiber operations in large-scale Tier 3 or 4 data center environments.
  • Proficiency in installing, certifying, and troubleshooting fiber optics in hyperscale data centers.
  • Skilled in using light meters, OTDRs (Optical Time Domain Reflectometers), OPMs (Optical Power Meters), fiber certifiers, loopbacks, and optical probes.
  • Understanding of different types of switches and port identifications.
  • Certification in fiber optics and/or cable installation.
  • Extensive experience in fiber splicing.
  • Technical knowledge of communication networks.
  • Knowledgeable of computers and associated electronic systems.
  • Knowledgeable of different fiber types.
  • Experience installing structured cabling.
  • Able to properly clean fiber and validate cleanliness.
  • Ability to use judgment and analytical skills in complex installations.
  • Ability to prioritize and use time management practices as well as prioritize tasks based on fluctuating needs.
  • Ability to adapt, make decisions, problem solve, and collaborate efficiently under pressure.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office (Excel, Power Point, Word, Teams, Project, etc.).
