We are currently looking for a Fiber Optic Installation Supervisor who is enthusiastic about guiding teams in the management of fiber optic systems. This role is crucial for overseeing operations at our data center.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as the crew leader under the supervision of the Project Manager and Superintendent, directing daily work assignments and installation projects.
  • Provide on-site training and guidance to team members.
  • Maintain a safe and efficient work environment.
  • Develop sensor indicators and conduct regular inspections to ensure optimal performance of fiber optic systems.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and install fiber optic systems to guarantee functionality.
  • Inspect and replace outdated or faulty fiber optic cables.
  • Organize and oversee routine maintenance schedules.
  • Manage fiber splicing and address problem areas within the fiber optic network.
  • Monitor signal strength across various devices.
  • Document and maintain system records and designs.
Qualifications

Basic Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in team management, preferably with data center cabling technicians.
  • At least 3 years of hands-on experience in large-scale Tier 3 or 4 data center environments, specifically in optical fiber installation and routing.
  • High school diploma or equivalent certification.

Preferred Skills:

  • Certification in fiber optics and/or cable installation.
  • Extensive experience in fiber splicing techniques.
  • Strong technical knowledge of communication networks.
  • Familiarity with computers and electronic systems.
  • Understanding of various fiber types.
  • Experience in installing, certifying, and troubleshooting fiber in hyperscale data centers.
  • Proficient in structured cabling installation.
  • Skilled in using tools such as light meters, OTDR, OPMs, and fiber certifiers.
  • Ability to comprehend different types of switches and port identifications.
  • Competence in cleaning fiber and ensuring cleanliness standards.
  • Strong analytical and judgment skills for complex installations.
  • Effective time management and prioritization abilities.
  • Capability to adapt and collaborate under pressure.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Teams, Project, etc.).
Additional Information
  • This position requires passing pre-employment drug testing and random drug and alcohol screenings.
  • Background checks will be conducted pre-employment and annually thereafter.
  • Physical dexterity is essential, as work may be performed in confined spaces.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs unassisted.
  • Comfortable working at heights of up to 50 feet with appropriate safety measures.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, based on operational needs.
