Job Title: R&D Welding Engineer 4

Join HII's Newport News Shipbuilding team as a R&D Welding Engineer 4, where you will play a critical role in developing and implementing cutting-edge welding techniques and procedures for the construction of naval vessels.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and analyze welding techniques, procedures, and applications using engineering principles.
  • Design and prepare technical documentation for waterfront welding processes, including specifications, analyses, standards, and restrictions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to scout, develop, and test new welding technologies, techniques, and processes.
  • Stay up-to-date on emerging welding technologies and their applications.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
  • 9 years of relevant exempt experience, or Master's Degree and 7 years of experience, or Ph.D. and 4 years of experience.
  • Practical experience in production areas supporting CVNs, VCS, or CLB.
  • Deep understanding of welding processes and underlying metallurgy.
