Position Overview

UNM Food is in search of a dedicated customer service professional to fill the role of Event Coordination Specialist. This position is essential in supporting event operations and sales for various venues, including the University Club and Championship Golf Course. The successful candidate will play a key role in enhancing event sales across multiple areas while providing on-site support for special occasions. Additionally, this role involves assisting with the daily management of the University Club, which operates as a membership-based service offering lunch during weekdays and hosting special events on weekends and evenings.

As an Event Coordination Specialist, you will collaborate closely with the Sales and Event Manager to boost event and conference sales, plan events, and ensure seamless on-site execution.

This is a full-time role that necessitates availability during evenings and weekends.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations, including dining services, meetings, and special events.

• Availability for evening and weekend work as required for events.

• Engage in recruiting new members and event clients through strategic marketing and outreach.

• Drive event sales through effective marketing strategies, consultations, and venue tours.

• Provide event planning support and oversee events on-site.

• Deliver exceptional customer service to members and guests.

• Represent event venues at industry trade shows and informational fairs.

• Assist in crafting and approving communications for the University Club.

• Consult on menu planning for daily services and special events.

• Aid in tracking, reporting, and reconciling event payments and member dues.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; at least 3 years of relevant experience.

• Higher education credentials from an accredited institution may substitute for experience on a year-for-year basis.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in customer service roles.
  • Background in food and beverage operations.
  • Demonstrated sales experience and revenue growth.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience coordinating with vendors and managing sites.
  • Familiarity with calendar and booking management.
