Position Overview

The Nursing Practice Coordinator plays a pivotal role in supporting the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) within an acute care environment, focusing on the standardization of nursing practices and the effective implementation of new protocols.


This position is responsible for analyzing quality, safety, and patient satisfaction metrics, developing actionable strategies, and spearheading initiatives for continuous improvement.

This role collaborates closely with the Clinical Education department to ensure that all training requirements based on competencies are met.

  • Act as a subject-matter expert for the introduction of new products, processes, and technologies.

With a capacity of 76 beds, including a specialized 12-bed behavioral unit, Richland Hospital is equipped to manage diverse patient needs and deliver specialized interventions.


Accountabilities
  • Ensure that clinical policies, procedures, and protocols are aligned with evidence-based practices to enhance consistency and drive performance outcomes.

Collaborate with the Nursing Practice team to ensure timely rollout and implementation of new policies and procedures across all shifts.

Provide just-in-time education in response to changes in practice, root cause analyses, and code debriefings.


  • Review quality and safety data to identify skill gaps and develop action plans to address them.


Leadership in Implementation
Lead the efficient launch of new products and initiatives, making informed decisions regarding order sets, and ensuring successful adoption across all shifts. Serve as a resource for Epic nursing documentation.


  • Oversee regulatory education, certification, and competency validation compliance in partnership with the Clinical Education department.


Conduct needs assessments in collaboration with Clinical Education to identify facility-specific clinical education requirements and communicate training requests.


  • Support newly hired or transferred clinical team members in achieving their orientation goals, addressing initial access issues and competency gaps that may hinder their transition to independent practice.

Encourage and mentor new graduate team members participating in the residency program, and provide coaching to preceptors.


Supervisory Responsibilities
This role does not involve management responsibilities and will report to a supervisor, manager, director, or executive.

Minimum Qualifications
Master's Degree in Nursing Administration or equivalent experience.

Three years of nursing experience in an acute care setting.

Licensure Requirements
Current RN license in South Carolina.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Proficient in office equipment and basic computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and data entry.

Strong mathematical skills.

In lieu of a master's degree, a BSN or bachelor's degree may be considered if the applicant agrees to enroll in an accredited master's program within one year and complete it within two years. Alternatively, a DNP or PhD in Nursing may be accepted in place of the degree requirements.
