Job Summary

This is a challenging and rewarding role for a Licensed Practical Nurse to join our team at the South Carolina Department of Disabilities and Special Needs (DDSN). As a Licensed Practical Nurse, you will be responsible for providing daily nursing care, training, and treatment to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer routine medications and treatments in accordance with nursing protocol and facility policies.
  • Monitor health conditions and report findings to medical providers and staff.
  • Maintain a safe and sanitary living and working environment.
  • Ensure accountability and protection from harm for all individuals through thorough documentation.
  • Review and complete healthcare records, medication administration records, and other required documentation.
  • Participate in activities and on-call rotations as assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements
  • Licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse by the State Board of Nursing for South Carolina.
  • Successful completion of a registered nursing education program or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of practical nursing procedures, sanitation, and health and safety practices.
  • Ability to maintain attention to detail and communicate effectively.
  • Ability to work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds and establish effective working relationships.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of relevant federal and state regulations and laws.
  • Ability to work in a group home-like setting or ICF.
  • Physical ability to work with individuals who may be physically aggressive or medically fragile.
