Clinical Lab Technologist Role at Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Clinical Lab Technologist to join our team in the Comprehensive Cancer Center. The successful candidate will assist with all activities of the Clinical Trials Processing Lab, including preparing labels and labeling tubes for specimen collection, processing, storage, and shipping.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage data management, inventory control, and quality control of human biological samples
  • Operate prescribed laboratory methods, instruments, and automated equipment; Maintain laboratory maintenance records
  • Assist with processing biological specimens from patients enrolled in studies conducted by the OSU Clinical Trials Office, including preparing tubes, syringes, and specimen labels for specimen collection
  • Process specimens of time-sensitive patient samples for pharmacokinetic, pharmacodynamic, and other correlative studies; retrieve and ship samples
  • Complete laboratory test requisition forms; Maintain sample records for audit purposes
  • Communicate with outside reference labs regarding patient testing, handle inquiries, and resolve any testing and/or specimen collection errors; Interact with research protocol and hospital clinical staff
  • Manage sample inventory log and electronic database; Participate in data entry and management, quality control, audits, and FDA inspections, continuous quality improvement, and inventory management of clinical trial specimens, trial, and laboratory supplies
  • Ensure compliance with FDA and IRB regulations as well as internal clinical research SOPs, policies, and procedures; maintain all GCP, IATA, EHS, and sponsor-required trainings and certifications

Requirements

Associates Degree in Applied Science or Medical Laboratory field or equivalent combination of education and experience. Bachelor's Degree preferred. Must be able to effectively communicate face-to-face and in writing with clinical staff and outside collaborators.

Work Schedule

Monday - Friday, 10:30 AM - 7:00 PM or 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM
