Position Summary: The Utilization Review Specialist is responsible for conducting admission and concurrent stay medical record evaluations to assess the appropriateness of patient admissions, continued stays, and care settings. This role involves collaboration with attending physicians and healthcare providers throughout the patient's hospitalization, ensuring effective communication with third-party payers to secure necessary authorizations. The specialist plays a vital role in optimizing patient throughput and length of stay while assisting in denial management and ensuring the completeness of physician documentation.
Qualifications:
- Education: ADN, Diploma Nursing Degree, or Bachelor of Science in Nursing
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years in an acute care hospital environment
- Licensure: Active Registered Nurse license in South Carolina
