Position Overview: English Language Arts Instructor

Employment Type: Full-Time

Location: First Philadelphia Preparatory Charter School

Department: Teaching Staff

Reports To: School Principal

Employment Status: Exempt

Duration: 10 Months


Role Summary:

The English Language Arts Instructor is tasked with developing educational resources and ensuring alignment with the PSSA Assessment Anchors. The educator collaborates with a grade-level team to synchronize school-wide initiatives aimed at achieving the institution's objectives in support of our students.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Design a curriculum scope and sequence that aligns with the PSSA Assessment Anchors.
  • Develop weekly lesson plans that meet state standards and align with the current curriculum in collaboration with American Paradigm Schools.
  • Assess student work and provide constructive feedback in a timely manner.
  • Engage in communication with the team regarding school-wide and grade-level expectations.
  • Maintain open lines of communication with families regarding student progress.
  • Collaborate with ESL and special education instructors.
  • Foster and maintain positive relationships with students.
  • Participate in after-school events as required.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all students.

Qualifications:

Certification Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree (mandatory)
  • PA Certification (mandatory)

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to sit, walk, and stand for extended periods.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Ability to lift 20-25 lbs.
  • Mobility to navigate stairs.
