Job Summary:

Germanna Community College is seeking a part-time English adjunct faculty member to teach face-to-face courses in the field of English. The successful candidate will be responsible for effectively planning and teaching courses in a classroom environment to students with a variety of academic backgrounds and experiences.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach face-to-face courses in English to students with diverse academic backgrounds and experiences.
  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that meet the needs of students.
  • Assess student learning and provide feedback to students.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to achieve departmental and institutional goals.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and stay current with best practices in education.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours in the specific discipline.
  • Official transcripts required prior to final offer.
  • Ability to demonstrate the use of relevant technology and learning management systems to effectively facilitate teaching, learning, assessment, and communication.
  • Commitment to student engagement in the online teaching environment, including maintaining consistent communication and virtual support mechanisms to ensure student success.
  • Technology capability (access to WIFI, computers) to teach remotely.
  • Demonstrate competency and commitment to continuous professional development in virtual education.
  • Complete Growing with Canvas and TOPS 2.2 prior to teaching.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior teaching experience.
  • Work experience in the field.
  • Experience with online teaching.
  • Substantial, proven experience with innovative teaching and developing online courses in both synchronous and asynchronous learning environments at a regionally accredited institution.
  • Experience with or willingness to learn artificial intelligence tools.
