Job Summary:

The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a part-time assistant rugby coach to join our team. As a key member of our coaching staff, you will assist the head coach with practice and game preparation, coaching, recruiting, academics, fundraising, and the off-season program.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the head coach with practice and game preparation, including developing and implementing game plans and strategies.
  • Coach and mentor student-athletes, providing guidance and support to help them achieve their full potential.
  • Recruit and retain top talent, identifying and developing relationships with potential student-athletes and their families.
  • Develop and implement academic support programs to help student-athletes succeed in the classroom.
  • Assist with fundraising efforts, including developing and implementing fundraising strategies and events.
  • Develop and implement the off-season program, including planning and executing training sessions and activities.

Requirements:

  • Experience as a rugby student assistant or student-athlete.
  • Strong coaching and leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with student-athletes, coaches, and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong commitment to collaboration and teamwork.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in collegiate rugby coaching or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of rugby rules and regulations.
  • Ability to develop and implement innovative coaching strategies and techniques.
