Role Purpose Statement
As a Safety Clerk, you will play a critical role in ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, while maintaining and monitoring employee safety. Your expertise will be instrumental in developing and implementing safety policies and procedures, conducting regular safety inspections and risk assessments, and coordinating employee safety training programs.
Main Accountabilities
- Develop and Implement Safety Policies and Procedures
Develop and implement safety policies and procedures that meet or exceed regulatory requirements, ensuring a safe working environment for all employees.
Conduct Regular Safety Inspections and Risk AssessmentsConduct regular safety inspections and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions, ensuring a proactive approach to safety management.
Coordinate Employee Safety Training ProgramsCoordinate employee safety training programs, including new hire orientation, ongoing safety education, and emergency response training, to ensure employees have the necessary knowledge and skills to perform their jobs safely.
Responsible for SOP Training and Driver FilesResponsible for SOP training for all new drivers and re-training of drivers, as well as updating and maintaining all driver files, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
Process Port Authority/Customs Identifications and Vehicle InspectionsProcess all Port Authority/Customs identifications and ensure all State inspections, registrations, and Insurance IDs for trucks are current, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
Assist the Ramp Safety Supervisor and Perform Clerical DutiesAssist the Ramp Safety Supervisor as needed and perform other clerical duties as assigned, ensuring seamless support to the safety team.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
A high school diploma or equivalent is required for this role.
Valid Driver's License and Airport SIDA BadgeA valid driver's license and the ability to obtain an Airport SIDA badge and CBP Customs Seal within 30 days of hire are required.
3-5 Years of Safety Experience3-5 years of safety experience is preferred, with AOA ramp experience may be substituted year for year for safety experience.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and Computer ApplicationsProficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook, as well as other computer applications, is required.
Ability to Work with Minimum SupervisionThe ability to work with minimum supervision is essential for this role.
Strong Analytical, Verbal, Written, Interpersonal, and Organizational SkillsStrong analytical, verbal, written, interpersonal, and organizational skills are required for this role.
Detail-Oriented and Ability to Work in a Fast-Paced EnvironmentDetail-oriented and able to work in a fast-paced environment with large groups, with flexibility to adapt to changing priorities.
Open Availability and Ability to Work Nights and WeekendsOpen availability, with the ability to work nights and weekends as operations require, is essential for this role.
