Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Radiology Technologist PRN to join our team at Heart Hospital of Austin. As a key member of our Imaging department, you will provide technical assistance to physicians and ensure the efficient operation of our diagnostic and interventional procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Perform radiological and interventional procedures with precision and attention to detail, documenting all necessary information and communicating effectively with primary physicians and direct care staff.
  • Coordinate patient care in collaboration with radiology technologists, physicians, nurses, and allied health staff, ensuring a safe and comforting environment for patients.
  • Evaluate patient conditions to perform radiological and interventional exams, informing and explaining procedures to patients and their families.
  • Provide comprehensive direct patient care, ensuring the availability and safe utilization of clinical equipment and supplies.
  • Consult with staff as needed to meet patient needs, possessing knowledge of patient growth and development across the lifespan.
  • Perform Point of Care procedures in a timely manner, documenting required information and adhering to quality control standards.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with equipment in the Interventional Suite procedure room, including fluoroscopy, pan tables, and digital acquisition systems.
  • Understand and utilize supplies for specified procedures, familiarizing yourself with renal, neuro, peripheral, and vascular anatomy.
  • Assume the role of circulator during procedures, pulling supplies, altering technique as needed, and operating injectors.
  • Troubleshoot simple equipment issues and respond to departmental policy guidelines.
  • Communicate with radiologists and physicians to coordinate schedules and facilitate timely patient care.
  • Provide statistical reports within established timeframes, utilizing resources efficiently and effectively.
  • Participate in developing staff and affiliating students, maintaining and developing your own professional competencies.
Qualifications

We require an Associate Degree from an educational program in radiology accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) or a military training program of equivalent standards.

Entry-level graduates will be accepted, depending on shift and technical responsibility. Preferred candidates have one to two years of experience in an acute care setting as a Radiology Technologist or Interventional Radiology Technologist.

Candidates must possess current Medical Radiologic Technologist certification with the Texas Medical Board (TMB) and current radiology registration with the American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT)/Registered Radiologic Technologist RT(R). Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
