Patient Care Technician

Overview:
At Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, we are seeking a Patient Care Technician to join our Resource Pool team. As a Patient Care Technician, you will work under the direct supervision of a professional nurse to provide patient care and support the admissions and discharge process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide patient care, including vital signs, blood draws, and daily care.
- Support the admissions and discharge process, ensuring a smooth transition for patients.
- Work under the direct supervision of a professional nurse to implement delegated aspects of nursing care.
- Observe patients' physical, mental, and emotional conditions and report any changes to the nursing team.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- One of the following programs: Sentara Care Partner Certification Program, Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA), National Patient Care Technician (NCPCT), or completion of US Navy Hospital Corps School.
- American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
- One year of prior healthcare experience.
