Position Overview:
Responsible for providing essential support to healthcare professionals in delivering patient care, managing patient and equipment transportation, preparing and maintaining patient environments, and executing various clerical, transcription, and administrative tasks within the patient care unit.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist healthcare providers during routine examinations and procedures, including the procurement of necessary equipment and supplies.
  • Thoroughly review patient care documentation, noting any significant changes in patient conditions, and promptly report to registered nurses or physicians.
  • Perform a variety of clerical duties such as organizing and prioritizing tasks, welcoming and directing visitors, researching information for healthcare staff, reviewing orders for accuracy, revising orders as needed, answering calls, transcribing physician orders, and maintaining medical records. Conduct routine quality assurance audits, safety checks, and inventory management.
  • Provide clinical support by maintaining cleanliness in work areas, ensuring office equipment is functional, troubleshooting common software and hardware issues, changing linens, checking supply levels, restocking as necessary, transporting patients and supplies, and assisting in the orientation of new staff and students.
  • Deliver direct personal care to patients as outlined in care plans, including bathing, dressing, feeding, and assisting with mobility. Measure and document vital signs, height, and weight. May also be responsible for specimen collection, skin preparations, catheter care, blood glucose checks, simple wound care, range of motion exercises, and postural drainage.
  • Reinforce educational information provided to patients by registered nurses or physicians and document patient comprehension of instructions.
Additional Information:
Education Requirements:
  • High School diploma or GED.

Licensure/Certification Requirements:
  • Listed as Nurse Aide I Registry with the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification.

Professional Experience Requirements:
  • One (1) year of clerical or customer service experience and six (6) months of relevant nursing assistant experience, which may include a nursing assistant course or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Fluency in verbal and written English is required. Ability to develop computer skills if not already proficient.
