Job Summary:

Houston Methodist is seeking a highly skilled EMT Paramedic to join our team in the Emergency Department. As an EMT/Paramedic, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and services to a diverse patient population and their families.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide patient care and services to a diverse patient population and their families.
  • Assist in performing EKGs, collecting lab specimens, and conducting patient care activities within defined limits.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
  • Carry out delegated tasks and ensure patient needs are met.
  • Practice Patient and Family Centered Care in line with Houston Methodist Experience standards.

    • Use resources efficiently, assist with patient and staffing needs, and maintain an orderly environment.
  • GROWTH/INNOVATION ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
    • Seek opportunities for continual development, offer innovative solutions, and engage in performance improvement projects.

Qualifications:

  • EDUCATION:
    • High School diploma or equivalent education.
    • Completion of EMT-A, EMT-Paramedic program or licensed Paramedic.
  • WORK EXPERIENCE:
    • Six months pre-hospital experience or six months hospital experience as an EMT or Paramedic.
  • LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS - REQUIRED:
    • LP - Licensed Paramedic - State Licensure OR EMT-A - Emergency Medical Technician-Advanced - State Certification OR EMT-P - Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic - State Certification AND BLS - Basic Life Support (AHA) AND ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support (AHA) AND PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support (AHA) within 3 months AND NVCRISIS - Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (CPI) within 3 months.
  • KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
    • Demonstrate necessary skills and competencies to perform the job safely.
    • Proficient in English language, effective communication, and judgment in interactions.
    • Strong time management, adaptability, and computer knowledge.
    • Basic EKG interpretation skill and knowledge of Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act.
