Role Summary:
As a Healthcare Clinical Assistant, you will support physicians in executing medical procedures within the office environment. Your responsibilities will encompass phlebotomy, laboratory testing, quality assurance, instrument troubleshooting, and maintenance.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Ensure adherence to quality control protocols prior to patient testing.
2. Conduct laboratory blood work and perform blood draws, following established laboratory protocols for specimen handling and processing.
3. Execute technical laboratory procedures promptly and accurately, meeting the standards set by accrediting and regulatory bodies.
4. Prepare blood or bone marrow slides for diagnostic evaluation.
5. Coordinate with external laboratories as dictated by patient insurance plans.
6. Maintain comprehensive logs for test reports, quality control, equipment records, and checklists in compliance with regulatory agencies.
7. Adhere to patient identification policies during every patient interaction.
8. Record vital signs, height, weight, pain levels, and PHQ9 depression screenings as directed by the physician, documenting all information in the Onco/EMR system.
9. Prepare examination rooms for physician visits in a timely manner.
10. Receive and document lab reports for physician review.
11. Assist physicians with medical procedures, including bone marrows, fine needle aspirations, paracentesis, and pelvic examinations.
12. Schedule external testing and referrals as ordered by physicians.

Documentation Responsibilities:
1. Maintain thorough documentation in medical records regarding testing and treatments provided to patients.
2. Prepare encounter forms for patient billing or ensure all steps are recorded in the EMR for electronic superbill processing.
3. Document all quality control and quality assurance corrective actions.
4. Present critical blood counts to physicians as per guidelines.
5. Gather all relevant scans and CDs for physician review.
6. Manage inventory of supplies and place orders as necessary.
7. Initiate troubleshooting for instrument malfunctions and liaise with the central lab or service providers as needed.
8. Conduct EKG testing when applicable.
9. Uphold compliance with state and federal regulations governing patient care, rights, safety, billing, and collections.
10. Follow all AON and departmental policies, including IT and Disaster Recovery protocols, ensuring confidentiality of patient information.
11. Assist in training new staff in relevant job functions.
12. Flexibility to work at various AON locations to meet organizational needs.
13. Willingness to work overtime with prior notice.

Qualifications:

Education:
- High School Diploma or GED required.

Certifications:
- As mandated by state regulations.
- BLS certification required.
- Valid Driver's License and reliable transportation for travel between clinic locations.

Experience:
- Minimum of one year of experience as a medical assistant in a clinical or physician's office, with proficiency in venipuncture.

Self-Management:
Ability to manage time effectively, prioritize conflicting demands, and pursue professional development. Self-motivated and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.

Technical Skills:
Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and EMR systems is required.

Travel Requirements:
Occasional travel may be necessary based on operational needs.

Work Schedule:
Standard workdays are Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, with occasional overtime and weekend shifts as needed.
