Salary Range: $18.80 per hour

JOB SUMMARY: The Art Security Officer (ASO) is tasked with delivering outstanding customer service to all members of the MCASD community while enhancing the visitor experience. The ASO is responsible for overseeing the safety and security of staff, visitors, the art collection, and the facility. They will enforce MCASD policies to protect the collection from damage or theft and make informed decisions during safety, security, and emergency situations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Conduct regular patrols of museum galleries.
- Ensure compliance with museum policies to protect the collection and prevent theft or damage.
- Perform daily security patrols effectively.
- Complete safety and security audits and reports, including Incident Reports and Observation Reports.
- Provide information about museum exhibits, events, and the surrounding area to visitors.
- Respond to emergency situations, including medical emergencies and natural disasters.
- Additional responsibilities may include exterior facility patrols and after-hours escort services.
- Participate in training sessions and become knowledgeable about exhibitions and programming; assist visitors with information about the museum's history, exhibitions, and public programs.
- Maintain a safe work environment by adhering to safety policies and procedures.
- Be flexible to work alternate, part-time, or special event shifts, including weekends and/or after hours.
- Follow established policies and procedures to ensure a secure work environment.
- Other duties as assigned.
Proficient in multitasking while managing distractions and high visitor volumes. Competence in crowd control and providing clear guidance. Strong problem-solving skills, handling situations with tact and diplomacy. Ability to respond to emergencies, including providing medical assistance and evacuation support during incidents. Familiarity with MCASD's Emergency Action Plans is essential. Depending on the shift, additional duties may include exterior facility patrols and staff escorts after hours.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Basic technical skills are required. Professional appearance and adherence to dress code guidelines. A high school diploma and one year of relevant experience or equivalent education and experience are necessary. Some post-secondary coursework is preferred. Experience in a museum or art-related setting is advantageous. Bilingual skills are preferred.
BACKGROUND CHECKS AND LICENSING: Professional references and criminal background checks are required. CPR/First Aid/AED Certification or the ability to obtain it through MCASD-provided training is necessary.
SPECIAL LICENSING: Must possess and maintain an active BSIS Security Guard Card.
VACCINATION STATUS: Full vaccination against COVID-19 is required, with proof of vaccination upon hire, unless an accommodation for disability or religious reasons is approved.
