POSITION SUMMARY: The Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego is dedicated to inviting diverse audiences to engage with contemporary art. The Visitor Experience Ambassador plays a crucial role in enhancing the visitor journey by implementing established protocols to optimize the overall experience. This position supports the museum's mission and vision through various responsibilities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Rotate through various roles including front desk, retail, and visitor assistance as assigned.
  • Welcome guests and serve as the initial point of contact for visitors, members, and partners.
  • Facilitate ticket sales and promote membership options to guests.
  • Manage incoming calls, ensuring effective communication and message handling.
  • Enforce museum policies by informing guests of guidelines to enhance their visit.
  • Assist customers in the retail shop, processing transactions, and maintaining store presentation.
  • Collaborate with the Visitor Experience Administrative Assistant to address team matters and improve operational practices.
  • Work closely with the Security team to ensure visitor safety and address any concerns.
  • Partner with the Advancement team to promote memberships and support fundraising initiatives.
  • Assist the Education team with tour processing and program support.
  • Engage with interpretation teams to enhance knowledge of museum programs and events.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of Visitor Experience protocols and standards.
  • Conduct gallery tours during special events as needed.
  • Develop familiarity with museum spaces and revenue-generating scripts.
  • Embrace the museum's mission, vision, and values in all interactions.
  • Provide administrative support to various teams as required.
  • Be available to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as necessary.
  • Adhere to safety policies and procedures in the workplace.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS: Strong communication and problem-solving abilities. Excellent interpersonal skills to engage effectively with a diverse audience. Capability to thrive in a dynamic, public-facing environment while managing multiple tasks. Demonstrated tact and empathy in all interactions. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail. Ability to work independently or collaboratively. Proficiency in MS Office is preferred. A bachelor's degree and relevant experience are desirable. Bilingual skills are a plus. Interest in contemporary art is advantageous.
