Pathology Histotechnician I/II/III Specialist

Job Summary:
UTHealth is seeking a skilled Histotechnician to assist in the day-to-day operations of the laboratory. The successful candidate will process and prepare patient tissue according to department procedures, utilizing a wide range of technical and specialized knowledge.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform tissue processing, embedding in paraffin, and cutting, sectioning, staining, and mounting on slides for interpretation by a pathologist.
- Prepare slides according to SOP guidelines.
- Assist with quality control standards in the laboratory.
- Maintain blocks and/or slides files.
- Clean and maintain the laboratory in a functional state, performing scheduled equipment and instrument maintenance, calibration, and certification as required.
- Comply with all departmental SOPs and adhere to all rules and protocols.
- Respond to emergency situations.
Requirements:
- American Society of Clinical Pathologists HT (ASCP) certification.
- Associate's degree.
- Minimum experience requirements vary by level: Pathology Histotechnician I (six months), Pathology Histotechnician II (three years), Pathology Histotechnician III (five years).
