Medical Assistant III

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant III to join our team at UTHealth Houston. As a key member of our clinical team, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care and supporting our healthcare professionals.
Key Responsibilities- Perform a supportive role in the delivery of patient care, ensuring a safe, effective, patient-centered, timely, efficient, and equitable experience.
- Effectively participate in planning and preparing for patient visits, ensuring all necessary schedules, test results, and clinic-specific requirements are available.
- Room patients and document chief complaints, vital signs, medication lists, allergies, smoking history, and other relevant information.
- Perform hearing and vision testing, EKG, spirometry, point-of-care testing, specimen collection, equipment cleaning and reprocessing, and other requested procedures as required and competency validated.
- Prepare and stock rooms and clinic supplies, clean rooms between patients, and assist with routine and specialty procedures.
- Schedule patients for follow-up appointments or referrals and perform routine clerical duties, including photocopying, scanning, and faxing.
- Respond to emergency situations and maintain patient confidentiality and HIPAA guidelines.
- Use and care of standard clinic equipment.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Certification (CMA, RMA, CCMA, NCMA) may be required.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of an approved Medical Assistant training program or one year of experience in a healthcare setting.
- Three years of experience in a healthcare setting.
