Automotive Service Technician

Sign-On Bonus: $500 with an additional $500 after 90 days of satisfactory performance.

Total Bonus Potential: $1000.

This position requires a skilled technician capable of diagnosing and repairing a wide range of vehicle components with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute tasks as detailed in the repair order efficiently and accurately, adhering to dealership and manufacturer standards.
  • Identify the root cause of most malfunctions and carry out necessary repairs.
  • Coordinate with the parts department to procure required components.
  • Preserve and label parts from the job if they are under warranty or upon customer request.
  • Inspect assigned vehicles to assess if additional safety or service work is necessary or advisable.
  • Inform the service advisor promptly if extra work is required, if outlined work is unnecessary, or if repairs cannot be completed within the promised timeframe.
  • Document all work performed and recommended on the repair order.
  • Conduct road tests on vehicles when necessary or refer to the test technician.
  • Engage in manufacturer-sponsored training programs, schools, and events.
  • Stay updated on manufacturer technical bulletins.
  • Oversee the work of any apprentice technicians as assigned.
  • Report any machinery defects or malfunctions to the supervisor.
  • Ensure that customer vehicles are maintained in a clean condition, notifying the service advisor immediately of any changes in appearance or condition.
  • Maintain a tidy and organized shop area.
  • Be responsible for all dealership-owned tools and manuals, ensuring they are returned in the same condition as received.
  • Understand and comply with federal, state, and local regulations, including hazardous waste disposal and OSHA Right-to-Know.
  • Operate all tools and equipment safely.
  • Report any safety concerns immediately to management.

Language Skills:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

Education and Experience:

A minimum of 2 years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
