Business Office Specialist

Join DHR Health as a Business Office Specialist and play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our healthcare facilities. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing patient billing, customer service, and the transmission of electronic claims.
Key Responsibilities:- Perform daily billing activities, including abstracts, interim bills, late charges, re-bills, and split bills.
- Transmit all claims worked by billers to insurance carriers three times a day.
- Submit professional 1500 claims as needed.
- Work claims that have been placed on hold to ensure timely bill release.
- Assist patients with questions and concerns regarding their billing accounts.
- Download and post electronic remit acknowledgement reports.
- Work exclusion and rejection reports from Claims Administrator and make necessary corrections, re-bill claims, and balance daily billing.
- Serve as a resource for billers, collectors, customer service, appeals staff, and other departments.
- Monitor billing not imported report.
- Monitor MDs with no NPI numbers and locate them to update the system for billing compliance.
- Monitor Rehab, Oncology, CRC, billing report, and outstanding billing report.
- Monitor billing edits and releases and make updates as needed.
- High School Diploma/GED required.
- Comprehensive knowledge of healthcare billing.
- Understanding of medical terminology.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Familiarity with EOBs and RAs.
- Ability to multitask and work with frequent interruptions.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with all levels of management.
- MD billing office experience required; hospital experience preferred.
The Business Office Specialist will spend over 95% of their time in an air-conditioned environment with varying exposures to noise. There is protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. The position has low exposure to malodorous, infectious body fluids from patients and some minimal exposure to noxious smells from cleansing agents.
This position has minimal to no exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues and is an OSHA Category III. The individual will not be called upon as part of their employment to perform or assist in emergency medical care or first aid or to be potentially exposed in some other way.
