The Opportunity:

This position is based in our office and will involve collaboration between the financial and operational aspects of our business. The primary focus will be on management reporting related to manufacturing costs, bridging financial analysis with operational efficiency. Additionally, this role will support the end-of-month closing processes. We seek a candidate proficient in data analytics and familiar with tools like Power BI.

To uphold our high standards, we are looking for an experienced Staff Accountant to support both HIG brands within our Finance department. The ideal candidate will possess a strong business acumen and a proven track record in financial reporting, cost accounting, and month-end closing procedures. A positive attitude and the ability to thrive in a dynamic environment are essential.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare monthly financial statements, including balance sheets and profit and loss statements.
  • Conduct general cost accounting and related tasks for the organization.
  • Execute month-end closing entries for all cost accounting activities.
  • Analyze manufacturing variances and provide written explanations to support monthly forecasts.
  • Monitor, analyze, and report on departmental costs, collaborating with managers to understand actual and projected expenses.
  • Maintain the general ledger and ensure accuracy.
  • Participate in the implementation of automated systems to enhance accounting functions.
  • Set up new accounts, reconcile accounts, and assist in closing monthly financial records.
  • Reconcile bank accounts and verify bank activities as necessary.
  • Reconcile cash disbursement accounts, payroll, customer accounts, and other financial accounts.
  • Verify and complete payment of invoices related to accounts payable, ensuring correct account charges.
  • Assist external auditors by gathering necessary account information and documentation for annual audits.
  • File tax forms with relevant government agencies as required.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance proprietary tools and systems, complete projects, and identify areas for improvement.
  • Stay informed about acceptable accounting practices and procedures.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.


Supervisory Responsibilities:

This role does not include supervisory responsibilities but may provide backup support in the absence of the Accounting Manager.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Finance/Accounting.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Required Skills and Abilities:
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of financial and cost accounting principles.
  • Ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Proficiency in preparing sales tax reports.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite and accounting software.
