OVERVIEW

The Principal Accountant plays a crucial role in managing general ledger activities, preparing financial statements, and overseeing the monthly account reconciliation process. This position requires a proactive approach to understanding financial workflows and internal controls. The Principal Accountant will be responsible for general accounting tasks, conducting trend analyses, and managing profit and loss statements.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Execute month-end closing procedures, including the preparation and review of reconciliations and journal entries.
  • Compile monthly consolidated financial reports, ensuring accuracy in elimination and inter-company transactions.
  • Generate various financial reports and engage in ad hoc projects as needed.
  • Support fellow accountants within the department as required.
  • Collaborate with internal and external auditors to provide necessary documentation and information.
  • Analyze, review, and communicate financial data to reflect actual performance against budgetary expectations.
  • Maintain accurate accounting records, investigate transactions, and report findings.
  • Conduct regular accounting functions that demand a high level of professional expertise.
  • Document accounting processes and transactions for future financial management and auditing purposes.
  • Review, enhance, and update the company’s financial policies and procedures.
  • Offer recommendations to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness, identifying potential control weaknesses and proposing solutions.
  • Act as a representative of the company in communications with external contacts and agencies.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience or equivalent professional background.
  • Experience in accounting for multi-entity organizations with intercompany transactions is preferred.
  • Ability to manage moderately complex accounting tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Proficient in accounting software and systems; experience with Hyperion and/or One Stream is advantageous.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent computer proficiency, particularly in MS Office Suite, with advanced Excel skills.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of general ledger accounting principles.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and analytical abilities.
  • Outstanding internal customer service capabilities.
  • Proven track record of meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment with minimal oversight.
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills along with excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
