With a strong reputation as a pioneering and dependable private Utility Development Leader, CLP provides support to federal agencies, military organizations, municipalities, and major utility companies across the United States. Our services encompass financing, design, engineering, construction, and ongoing operations and maintenance for electrical transmission and distribution systems, in addition to outdoor street, sports, and recreational lighting solutions.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Utilize previous experience to calculate price take-off quantities, materials, and necessary construction equipment.
- Assess Request for Proposal specifications and collaborate with the estimating team to prepare and submit essential documentation.
- Analyze costs by evaluating labor, material, and time requirements.
- Compile subcontractor bid packages for estimation from third-party suppliers by collecting proposals, designs, specifications, and relevant documents.
- Engage in pre-bid discussions with clients.
- Establish and maintain an electronic database of project components, including unit costs for electrical equipment, labor hours for installation, and engineering.
- Collaborate with internal engineering teams and external suppliers to define the scope of supply.
- Oversee the solicitation, assessment, and procurement of subcontractors and materials for relevant scopes of work.
- Review final bids for precision, ensuring all components are accounted for.
- Identify potential value engineering opportunities.
- Develop scope and plans for pricing conceptual or budgetary estimates.
- Examine contractor programs for adherence to contract documents.
- Conduct constructability reviews and analyze budgets and project costs.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Six to ten years of experience in electrical estimating, with a preference for high voltage experience.
- Familiarity with take-offs and pricing in union, self-perform, and lump sum competitive bid environments.
- Proficient in Excel.
- Ability to comprehend the scope of work and effectively communicate with various stakeholders.
- Competence in utilizing Microsoft Office applications.
- Timberline estimating experience is advantageous.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, particularly in resolving technical issues, preparing reports, and influencing suppliers to meet project needs.
- Attention to detail and accuracy are critical.
Travel Requirements:
- Some overnight travel may be anticipated.
Work Authorization/Security Clearance:
- Authorization to work in the US without sponsorship is required.
- A valid driver's license and the ability to travel are necessary.
Compensation and Benefits:
- We provide a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and life insurance, a 401k plan with company contributions, paid time off, and paid holidays.
- Salary range: $75,000 - $95,000 per year, based on experience, with eligibility for participation in a Short Term Incentive Plan.
