About the Position:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Electrical Engineer to join our team at City Light & Power, Inc. As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing electrical systems, including sub-transmission systems, substations, and distribution systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop electrical systems, including sub-transmission systems, substations, and distribution systems.
  • Develop concept design alternatives, engineering calculations, and analysis for small-scale system improvement projects.
  • Develop and review complex electrical system models and validate various system study findings and recommendations.
  • Develop electrical specifications for major electrical apparatus.
  • Create system models for large-scale power systems and perform various power system analysis and studies.
  • Develop bills of material and technical specifications for various electrical projects.
  • Schedule and attend field walk-downs with customers, subcontractors, and construction personnel to understand and determine project requirements.
  • Perform field take-offs and evaluations for estimate preparation.
  • Possess and maintain broad and in-depth knowledge of principles, practices, procedures, and standards related to utility power distribution systems.
  • Update and maintain GIS databases for large-scale electrical distribution systems.
  • Perform site surveys for major upgrade projects, develop concept designs, and present designs to CLPE Management and customers.
  • Prepare cost estimates for large-scale electric distribution and substation projects.
  • Keep up to date with utility industry standards and codes and enforce and maintain all applicable standards and codes for our O&M, replacement, and new installations.
  • Analyze electrical fault events, power quality issues, system loading scenarios, and assist crews to implement corrective actions.
  • Participate in estimate review processes with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Assist construction personnel throughout the project life cycle in tracking and understanding basis of cost estimates.
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide guidance and support to help them grow in their professional careers.

Project Management:

Prepare construction schedules, submit RFIs to clients, and act as the point of contact for facilitating design review processes and addressing open items as requested by clients.

Requirements:

  • BS degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university with an emphasis in power systems.
  • PE license required.
  • Eight plus years of work experience in the electrical utility industry.
  • Solid background with medium voltage electrical substations and distribution systems.
  • Expertise in power system analysis, distribution system modeling, and protective device coordination.
  • Experience working with blueprints, specifications, and proposals for preparation of time/cost/labor estimates.
  • Must be a team player with excellent oral and written communication skills.

Salary Range:

$130,000-$165,000 based on experience, plus eligible to participate in the Short Term Incentive Plan.
