Position Summary:
The Immigration Paralegal will play a crucial role in various stages of case management, including pre and post-filing processes for diverse case types, particularly those with humanitarian aspects.
Qualifications:
- 2-3 years of experience in an immigration law office is required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office is essential.
- Attention to detail, along with excellent spelling and diction, is necessary.
- Reliability, empathy, and the ability to handle sensitive topics are crucial attributes.
- Familiarity with humanitarian immigration applications (such as VAWA, U, and T visas) and the foundational knowledge expected of an immigration paralegal is required.
- Proficiency in a second language is preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage with clients to confirm and clarify information, and prepare legal documentation for VAWA, T visa, and Adjustment of Status applications.
- Edit affidavits and immigration forms as directed by attorneys.
- Monitor critical deadlines and court appearances, ensuring timely filing of immigration applications.
- Communicate with USCIS and EOIR regarding case progress.
- Assist attorneys with legal research as necessary.
- Collaborate effectively within a structured team environment, maintaining a positive and proactive attitude.
